Bill Description:

This legislation establishes education partnership programs between public schools and public health agencies to prevent the misuse and overdose of synthetic opioids by youth, including a new federal pilot program at the Department of Health and Human Services, developed in consultation with the Department of Education.

Evidence provisions:

  • Terms including “evidence-based” adopt definitions under section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965.
  • Authorizes a number of pilot programs between public schools and public health agencies.
  • Establishes an interagency task force that identifies evidence-based, evidence-informed, and promising practices to address synthetic opioid misuse and overdose in youth.
